Perfect Weekend Itinerary

Two nights at Suncadia is the sweet spot. Long enough to feel like a real escape — short enough to fit into a standard weekend without burning vacation days. The challenge isn’t finding things to fill the time; it’s deciding which experiences to prioritize when the activity menu is this long.

This itinerary is built for a two-night Friday-to-Sunday stay, with a mix of outdoor activity, dining, and downtime. It’s deliberately flexible — the specific activities are swappable based on season, group composition, and how ambitious you want to be. Use it as a framework rather than a rigid schedule.

Note: This itinerary works for any season. Seasonal variation notes are included throughout.

Friday: Arrive, Settle In, Unwind

Afternoon — The Drive

Leave Seattle by 2pm if possible to beat the worst of the Friday I-90 traffic through Bellevue and Issaquah. If you can’t leave that early, waiting until 7pm and arriving at Suncadia around 8:30pm is actually preferable to sitting in stop-and-go traffic over Snoqualmie Pass. A stop at the Cle Elum Bakery on the way in (Exit 84) is worth it — pick up pastries for Saturday morning breakfast and skip the resort breakfast rush.

In winter, check WSDOT pass conditions before departing and make sure you have adequate tires or chains.

Evening — Check In & First Dinner

After check-in, resist the urge to immediately squeeze in an activity. Friday evening is for arriving, getting your bearings, and eating well. Swiftwater Cellars (301 Rope Rider Drive, inside the community) is the ideal Friday night dinner — it’s a proper sit-down meal with an excellent wine list, views of the darkening mountains, and the kind of unhurried atmosphere that sets the right tone for the weekend ahead. Make a reservation before you arrive; it books out on Friday nights, especially in summer.

If Swiftwater is full or you want something more casual, the Lodge restaurants (Portals for a full dinner, 56 Degrees Lounge for cocktails and lighter fare) are the easy backup. Both are steps from the Lodge without needing to drive.

After Dinner

A walk on the lit pathways of the Village Pavilion area, a glass of wine on your rental’s deck, or — in winter — a session at the outdoor heated pool under the stars. Friday evening at Suncadia is best experienced slowly.

Saturday: The Full Day

Saturday is the main event. The specific structure depends on your group’s priorities, but the framework is: an active morning, a midday break or lunch stop, an afternoon activity or spa, and a memorable evening.

Option A: The Golfer’s Saturday

7:30am — Early tee time at Rope Rider Golf Course. Morning light on the historic mine terrain is worth the early alarm. Eighteen holes takes approximately 4–4.5 hours at a comfortable pace.

Noon — Stop at Mulligan’s at the Prospector 9th hole for a sandwich, or head back to your rental for lunch.

2pm — Afternoon at the pool, followed by a visit to Glade Spring Spa if you’ve booked a treatment. A massage after a round of golf is not a luxury — it’s a medical necessity.

6:30pm — Dinner in Roslyn at Logan’s (large patio, excellent burgers, bring the dog if you have one) or back at Swiftwater Cellars for their wine tasting menu.

Option B: The Hiker’s Saturday

7am — Early start for a trail near Suncadia. In summer, Pete Lake (8.8 miles round trip, easy-moderate) makes for a perfect full-morning hike — pack a lunch and swim at the lake before returning. In fall, Hex Mountain for peak foliage views. In winter, the resort’s own groomed snowshoe trails through the forest are the most accessible option.

1pm — Back at the resort. Swim at the pool, rinse off, and have a late lunch.

3pm — Wine tasting at Swiftwater Cellars, or a session at the spa if pre-booked.

7pm — Dinner at 56 Degrees Lounge at the Lodge for the newly renovated bar and mountain views, or drive 10 minutes to Cle Elum for dinner and local beers at one of the downtown spots.

Option C: The Family Saturday

9am — Drop older kids at CampCadia (ages 4–12, seasonal). If CampCadia isn’t running, the pool opens at 9am and the water slide is the immediate agenda for most kids.

10am–noon — Adults: tee time at Prospector or a spa treatment while kids are occupied. Or the whole family rides bikes around the trail network — bike rentals are available if you didn’t bring your own.

Noon — Lunch at the Lodge or a picnic from the resort market.

2pm — Village Pavilion for kayaking or paddleboarding on the lake. In summer this is one of the highlights for kids of all ages.

4pm — Free play at the pool — the splash pad for younger kids, water slides for older ones.

6pm — Early dinner. Roslyn’s Logan’s has space, a relaxed atmosphere, and the free dog plate if you brought the family pet.

Sunday: A Slower Morning, Then Home

Morning

Sunday morning is the easiest morning of a Suncadia weekend — no pressure to be anywhere, the resort is quieter as some guests have already checked out, and the trails are at their most peaceful.

A walk or easy bike ride before breakfast is the move. The 30-minute loop along the Cle Elum River corridor is flat, beautiful, and requires no planning — just step out the door and walk.

Breakfast options:

  • Those pastries from the Cle Elum Bakery you grabbed Friday are ideal now
  • The Lodge breakfast service for a proper sit-down meal
  • Drive the 10 minutes to Roslyn for brunch at The Red Bird Cafe — a more local, less resort-priced option with good coffee

Late Morning — One Last Activity

Don’t check out and drive straight home — there’s usually time for one more thing before the Sunday checkout window (typically 11am–noon). Options that work well as a final activity:

  • A short walk on a nearby trail (Cooper Lake Trail is 15 minutes from the resort and flat enough to do casually without changing plans)
  • One last pool session before checkout
  • In winter: a final session on the tubing hill or ice rink
  • A coffee and walk through Roslyn’s historic main street — it takes about an hour and makes for a satisfying bookend to the trip

Afternoon — The Return Drive

Aim to leave by noon if you want to beat Sunday I-90 traffic westbound. The stretch between North Bend and Bellevue backs up significantly from 1–6pm on summer Sundays. Alternatively, stay for a late lunch in Cle Elum (Exit 84) and let the traffic clear before the pass — leaving around 5–6pm often means a smoother run back to Seattle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is two nights enough at Suncadia?

Yes — two nights (Friday to Sunday) gives you a full Saturday and solid Sunday morning, which is enough time to experience the core of what Suncadia offers. Three nights allows you to slow down further and explore more of the surrounding area (Lake Cle Elum, Yakima River fishing, Roslyn properly). If your primary goal is golf, two nights comfortably fits two rounds.

What is the best day to arrive at Suncadia for a weekend trip?

Friday afternoon. Arriving Friday gives you a full Saturday and Sunday morning rather than just one full day. If you can’t leave Seattle until after the Friday rush, arriving Friday evening still works — have dinner at Swiftwater Cellars and wake up to a full Saturday.

What should I book first for a Suncadia weekend?

Lodging first, then golf tee times and spa appointments simultaneously. These three compete for the same high-demand windows. Restaurants (especially Swiftwater Cellars) should be booked within a week of lodging.

Go Make Your Weekend

The best Suncadia weekend is the one you actually take. The itinerary above is a starting point — adjust it to your group, your season, and your mood. The resort rewards both planners (who book golf, spa, and dinner weeks ahead) and improvises (who rent bikes at 9am on Saturday and see where the trail goes). Both approaches produce a good time.
